This FL is what I was expecting, hope she really kills, and proceed with her revenge without faltering, all those limp FLs in revenge novels that forgive and such are a pain in the ass.
Honestly Leoni needs to calm down. Rudger hasn’t really done anything to her. I guess because of her abuse she assumes the worse but it shows how much of an unreliable narrator she is. I love how certain people want to blame him for not communicating but she can’t do it either. When he comes to check on her she assumes it must be because he loves his care taker and screams at him. When that’s clearly not the case. If this is how she tends to treat him I can see why he barely communicates.
To address your point, it is mostly from Leoni’s POV and there is a lot of information missing, but some pieces have come together. 1) It is said that Rutgar had his jaw misaligned and as an adult he didn’t speak much, especially since he had a stutter as a child and was still self conscious when he spoke as an adult. 2) This chapter it was obvious he came to check on her, not the chambermaid, and since she told him to leave and he loves her (as shown when she went to the future and he kept her dress and was desperate to see her) he likely let her be because he thought she hated him. 3) Only caring about the unborn child is a lie, he wanted her and his love at first sight is obvious of that. 4) He wouldn’t have just taken the child. Something happened, and I don’t think he wanted Leoni in prison. There was some sort of misunderstanding as facts aren’t lining up with past Rutgar’s reaction to seeing her again and the information we have now. Most likely, Rutgar was ashamed of himself and felt not worthy of Leoni, doubled with the fact he had poor communication skills from his jaw and mocking of his stutter so he left Leoni be most of the time, not wanting to bother her, probably thinking she loved and miseed her previous husband. An incident occured where he was unable to get her out of prison at the time, and it was too late by the time he found out or gained the power to do something.
This is just my opinion but what if Leoni’s second husband and son were killed by or for Prince Rutger. I don’t know why but it’s strange that she never found them, and the Duke quickly married her off to the Prince.
I just want to point out all the information we have given is from Leoni’s POV we don’t know anything from his POV. I would not be so quick to judge. Also treating someone coldly is not a crime…. lol
All those naive readers who are feeling pity for 🤞PRINCE Rutger🤞, I want to ask that is a handsome face and puppy eyes all that is required to absolve all crimes??
I agree that he didn’t want to kill Leoni in first timeline, but that doesn’t forgive all the atrocities he did to her.
👉 treating her coldly
👉 not caring, being non-chalant about her suffering
👉 only caring for the unborn child because he wanted an heir badly
👉 had Leoni given birth to the child, he would have abandoned her after keeping the child for himself
👉 or maybe he was just weak
👉 not to forget her evil sister , what she said about being the next Kaiserin
Truly speaking, I don’t feel an ounce of pity or sympathy for an apathetic character like him.
I want Leoni to stay away from him and give him back the pain ten times of what she suffered.
