Full agreement with Thick owl in the comments, to me everyone seems to have forgotten that winter did those kinds of things out of love for his wife, yes he thinks money and material things will make her happy but you can’t lie and tell me you haven’t had that kind of person in your life, ik my own mom tried to give me affection through material things for the longest time, before i said to her that i personally just didn’t feel any affection from her cuz i would never see her and be with her even when she would come back from work. Some people just do genuinely believe that instead of giving someone time they can give them love through buying them a lot of things, and yea you can absolutely appreciate someone for buying you things you like but that realistically can never replace experiences with that person
Winter is a workaholic person so I expect he doesn’t know how to persuade a lady other than giving gifts. I pity Winter, he doesn’t deserve all this. They’re relationship lack communication and misunderstandings. And it’s all not Winter’s fault, its his parents fault why there’s a misunderstanding. So I’ll say, they deserved what Winter did.
Hah, for some this could be the best ending. She leaves him, he ruins himself with the regret of taking her for granted and losing her. That’s is, end of story, woot woot.
I do appreciate the subject matter, this is a very hard topic to talk about, but I think the writers and translators have done a good job conveying that. I don’t know how I feel about them getting back together, I don’t think it’s worth it.
Well I am shipping Winter from similar reasons you mention Thick owl. I wrote some time ago in comments that I don’t get ppl who are in such hate fit with him. Everyone is like “poor Violet, Winter deserves it for hurting her”, but he didn’t hurt her on purpose, he said more then once that everything he has done was for her, when he said “do as you please”(or was it “(…)as you want”) he though he is doing good thing getting her freedom, not dismising her. Winter was hurt and manipulated for most of his life.
Winter is falling apart… I think autor might be going in direction his intentionally or not intentionally killing himself and swap bodies… might be only way of getting them to talk to each other again.
(and if Winter lose his company he would be free to go live with her where she is now)
I literally cant believe everyone is like “WiNteR dEsErVes iT” when he was trying to gift her things at the start of the marriage but his parents have been receiving the letters instead and replying with stuff like “I don’t need that stuff” or “You dont have to give me all these dresses” in a letter. He also thought that Violet hated him from the beginning of the marriage so he kept his distance from her. How could he have known the way the servants were treating her when he was away all the time trying to get back the money he had lost when he was tricked by Violets brother. And if i was tricked by someones brother like that and i dont know either of them, i would suspect both of them to be in on it. He was also sorta manipulated by his parents, cause who would you belive and rely on more, someone you just meet, or your parents(even tho they sorta neglected him)? And when him and Violet started hanging out more, he fell for her so much. Hes been lied to most of his life so how could he believe someone who he can NOT have a child with AT ALL, that the ‘child’ is his? He certainly doesnt believe in miracles. And look at him in the recent chapters, he has been getting insomnia and nightmares and it seems like he doesnt even care about himself or his life/health. Was i the only one who saw the empty alcohol bottle on the floor when he was holding the letter fron the doctor? Thats how heartbroken he is, how much he has fallen for Violet to be crushed like this. They still misundersatnd eachother even after exchanging bodies a few times. They both have had miserable moments in their lives and believe it or not Winter has had more. He was just able to cope with it better than Violet, but when violet left, that was the last straw and he finally lost it.

I’m so glad that she’s not one of those female leads that leave and then cry about how much they miss the male lead. Violet may be weak, but she has been through a lot, and she won’t let a useless feeling get in her way of happiness. 🙂
