Why do stories like this often start with the future MC being an only child in the original timeline, but when the FL regress, their child suddenly asks for a sibling? For example, in the manhwa “I Became the Mother of the Bloody Male Lead”, the little boy asks for a younger sibling. Now that im thinking about it in the other timeline they were probably to scared to ask for a little sibling. However my problem is why are there younger siblings always a girl? Why not a little boy? I find it odd in these stories that the little sibling is always a girl. There’s no harm in having another boy instead of a girl. When it comes to the FL’s children, there doesn’t always need to be gender balance. They could have all boys or all girls, and it will be no problem. I’m not against stories where a boy gets a little sister in fact, as a girl with an older brother, I can relate to that dynamic. However, after reading so many manhwa, it feels repetitive that in stories like these the little sibling is almost always a girl, even when the boy specifically asks for a little brother like with Casel in the previous manhwa I mention. I get that in real life, you can’t choose the gender of your child, but these are fictional stories where the author has full control on what gender the child will be. They could just as easily give the character a little brother, but they consistently choose sisters instead. It becomes predictable, especially when hints like baby pictures as shown in this chapter clearly show the sibling is going to be a girl. To end this rant, what’s wrong with being an only child? These stories always make single children want siblings, but being an only child isn’t bad. After my older brother left our house living like a single child felt like the best thing that could ever happen to me.
So why do they feel the need to add more children when one is enough? Especially in this case where the new child wasnt in the original story line to begin with. Sorry for the random rant; I just needed to get this off my chest after getting tired of this type of tropes.
