Okay, to make it easier for people to understand since it’s not talked about much at the beginning and takes a while to get to it in the story: Priscilla is the only child of the now deceased count, her father. The title goes to her only, along with land and other things. The land and title actually come with a bit of a power that allows it to operate more independently from the crown than other titles & lands. By marrying Priscilla and demanding the title of count and the land, Nopok gets all of that. He’s a baron/viscount, which is a much lower rank than Count/Earl than what Priscilla holds. As her spouse with no children, he gets ALL of what Motia has to offer without having to fight to get it.
Priscilla knows a bunch about the future, so she can manipulate it. What she doesn’t have is military force to keep her truly safe. Kian, on the other hand, has that in spades since he’s one of the seven sword masters on the continent. And the land he needs is basically what Motia **IS**. So, it’s actually a good deal for both of them
There’s a lot of things I don’t make sense of in this story. First, who wins her stepmother and the other guy, the count she wants to marry, by killing her? I don’t understand that it benefits both of us. And now, with this new character, how can he protect her? Does he have economic power apart from the military power he possesses? I don’t understand, everything is for the story to advance, no matter if it has logic or not
