I question this author’s knowledge of romance. The very foundation of Claire and Duke Eder’s “love” is flimsy at best. Even the way he and Claire got entangled didn’t make much sense. There was absolutely no need for him to get married if he was already waiting for the princess to begin with. Did he not consider the long-term consequences? At no point should a contractual wife be faulted for falling for their contractual partner! That should have been accounted for. To set up another woman as a placeholder. If he were in love with the princess the way he thought he was, he wouldn’t have even thought to set the stage for this act up. The entire premise of their arrangement is honestly self-serving and idiotic.
And now what? Is the author gonna lazily try to write his feelings off, leading us readers to think that he actually never loved Sofina in the first place? And that Sofina was just trying to act like “villain” now to get them together? If that’s how things are gonna go, then this work is very much too juvenile.

I maintain that he is a selfish dumbass. He told his wife he’s in love with the princess and would be divorcing her to be with the princess. He never corrected that. Then his lost love returns and he spends five days away from home. Anyone with half a brain would think he was starting his affair back up. But no~ his wife will understand and be steadily faithful and supportive regardless. He is definitely loving this relationship effort switch, where his wife does all of the emotional work and he does none, when his relationship with the princess was the reverse and he did all the effort.
